Views of Gloucester Market

Stories and pictures
Tony Ashby

Tony Ashby tells us that his father (Malt House Farm) and other local farmers would drive their cattle to market along the canal towpath.  Several men were employed to help.  Walter Walden used to help Oz Knight and others with their cattle and would give the 1 shilling (5p) he earned to his widowed mother who had a large family to feed.
