Vessels on the Gloucester/ Sharpness canal.
Photographs on the canal in 1980's

The following photographs were taken in the 1980's. One is of the Bisley, which carried oil to the oil terminal in Quedgeley once each week. It only just got throught the bridges with inches to spare!
The other vessel is believed to be a harbour defence vessel, which was converted to private use and was moored opposite the oil terminal in Quedgeley.
We would love some more information about these two vessels if you have any.

Where is the Bisley passing near?

The large vessel in the background is believed to be a general purpose pinnace, built in the 1940s. Boats such as these were used during World War II at Saul Junction by the RAF.
