Archive pathways for schools

We are working with the Directors of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation in order to use parts of their archive create resource materials for the use of schools together with examples from our own archive.  We have been allowed to take samples from their extensive archive (D1180, Gloucestershire Archives) and it is from these samples and items from the Junction Heritage archive that are used here to provide exemplars for using such an archive for classroom based research.  Through these samples we illustrate the potential for developing Research Skills and Thinking Skills.  The rational for which we have set out, here, in the pages in the Resources section.

An archive is organic and grows moment by moment.

Today's events are tomorrow's history.

We hope that this archive will reflect this philosophy and local people, including students will add their stories and photos of local events as they take place.  On-line contributions are easy to make and will be most welcome.
